Why I Started Mobile Ear Wax Removal Medway - A Nurse's Story
Hello, I’m Amy a fully insured, NMC registered nurse and founder of Mobile Ear Wax Removal Medway. I launched this service after a personal experience during the 2020 Christmas lockdown made me realise just how much people in Medway deserve and need accessible, affordable ear care.
Where did the idea come from?
My dad needed his ears cleaned and could only find a clinic over an hour away, charging £120, more than double what I now charge. We were shocked by the lack of local, affordable services and started talking about the wider need. It was clear that something was missing, and I knew I had the clinical background and passion to help fill that gap.
Starting the business
I qualified as a nurse in 2014 at St George’s University Hospital in London, before working at Medway Hospital until 2017. I then moved into private nursing home care, supporting older adults in a more personal setting. In March 2024, I became fully CQC compliant, allowing me to operate with full clinical regulation and give clients even more peace of mind about the safety, professionalism, and quality of care they can expect. By April 2025, I took the leap to run my mobile business full-time and I haven’t looked back.
I’ve always loved being able to fix a problem there and then. Ear wax might seem like a small thing, but for many people, it has a big impact on their hearing, comfort, and even balance. I love seeing the instant difference it makes helping people feel better straight away is one of the most rewarding parts of what I do.
Why mobile? Why you?
From the start, I knew I wanted this to be a mobile-only service. I assumed most of my clients would be older or less mobile, but I’ve been surprised by how many people of all ages prefer treatment at home. Whether it’s busy parents juggling childcare, people working from home, or anyone who’d rather not travel. Home visits just make things easier.
What makes my service different? For starters, I’m the most affordable in the area. I’m a perfectionist, and I take real pride in giving every client the cleanest ears possible. I genuinely care about people, which is why I offer tiered pricing to make the service accessible. For me, it’s about the treatment, not the money.
