I understand that you might have questions before booking or using my services, and I am here to make things simple. This page covers the most common queries that previous customers have asked, from how our mobile service works to what you can expect on the day of your appointment.
Whether you’re new to ear wax removal, curious about skin tag treatments, or unsure about aftercare, you’ll find all the answers you need right here. If you still have questions after reading through, feel free to get in touch I am always happy to help.
What is Ear Syringing (also called Ear Irrigation)?
Ear syringing is a technique of removing ear wax by flushing water through the ear canal using a specialist piece of equipment by a trained professional to get rid of any excess wax.
Do you use microsuction or water irrigation?
I am trained to use both systems however, I use water irrigation, also known as syringing during all my appointments, as I feel this is the best method to remove all wax and is safe in all environments.
Why choose this method of Wax Removal?
Irrigation has been given such a poor reputation over the last decade. When microsuction became the new trend, irrigation was, and still is, marketed by some companies as unsafe or less effective, but this is not the case. Irrigation is considered safe and effective at ear wax removal and much more mobile than microsuction with less risk to damage in the ear.
You can have micro suction be unsuccessful and be referred to have water irrigation completed.
As I am a travelling service I am creating a set up in every house which are all individual therefore the water irrigation machine needs less space and is safer to be in a busy home environment.
Does it hurt?
The process of irrigation does not hurt, however it is a strange sensation. The machine causes vibration, which can give a tickling or massaging sensation.
I will show you what it is like before starting treatment and have full control of the machine’s power through a foot pedal.
Is it normal to experience dizziness?
The high majority of people do not report a feeling of being dizzy, however a few people can feel dizziness. The ears are an important part of balance and any change can disrupt this. The dizzy feeling normally only lasts a few minutes after the procedure and I will stay until the feeling passes, which is normally very quickly.
Who can have their ears treated?
Anybody who is 18 or older and can consent (or has someone who has permission to consent on their behalf) to the procedure can have this treatment done. I have treated people from 18 up to 102!
Why get ear wax removed?
Ear wax buildup can cause blocked ears as well as a range of symptoms which can be improved once the excess wax has been removed.
These include ear ache, fullness in the ear, hearing loss, tinnitus, itchiness and dizziness. Having the ear wax professionally removed can help all of the above.
Where do you travel to?
I cover the whole of the ME postcode area within the set prices, which includes Maidstone, Isle of Sheppy and Isle of Grain however I am happy to travel outside of this area at an increased cost – get in touch for a custom quote.
Who can be there at the treatment?
The best part about having the treatment in your own home is that anyone who lives there can be there including babies and animals. I also offer multiple discounts for same household treatments – so feel free to invite friends and family.
Are you okay with Cats/Dogs?
I am an animal lover! And as long as the animal is well behaved and will not touch my equipment and will not hurt me then I am happy to meet them.
How often can I get the treatment done?
I would suggest getting the treatment done 3-4 times a year maximum. However it could be a one off treatment.
Can ear wax cause pain when flying?
There is no evidence to suggest that ear wax causes pain when flying unless the ears are completely occluded (blocked up). In this instance pressure equalisation between the outer and middle ears cannot take place causing pain.
How can I pay?
I have multiple ways to pay, and you are welcome to use what you feel best to pay. I take cash payments, bank transfers and I carry a mobile card machine. The card machine does require a good mobile phone/internet connection to work.
Do you prefer cash or card?
I accept either form of payment, however my card machine does take a percentage of the payment as fees. Therefore I get full payment from cash.
What are you bank details for transfers?

This is a Monzo Bank Account
How much does it cost?
I offer three levels of payment:
£15 – this is to look in the ears, if there is no wax to treat or it is unsafe to treat as there is an infection or damaged ear drums then the appointment will only cost £15.
£35 – This is to look at both ears and treat one ear with water irrigation to remove the wax.
£55 – This is to look at both ears and treat both ears with water irrigation to remove the wax.
What do you need to complete the treatment?
I only need two things to be able to perform the wax removal: warm water and a power source. The person having their ear wax removed can be in bed, in a chair, on a sofa, lying down, sitting up or standing. I will bring an extension lead and all the equipment with me that I need.
I have had my treatment and my ears are not back to normal is this normal?
You should feel immediate benefit from the treatment, however there are some residual symptoms you may feel, for example you may have water trickling feeling as all the water is leaving your ears and the next day your ears may have a crusty dry feeling. These are all normal and will resolve on their own. I offer a free follow up visit within a week if you are worried about any after effects.
Will you be able to get the wax out?
So far I have 100% success rate and even have other companies refer to me when they cannot get the wax out. I will work with you to help get complete wax removal.
Should I use oil before treatment?
Olive oil helps to soften the wax and makes it smoother and quicker to remove. It is best to use the oil for at least a week before treatment.
